- May 1957 Diocese institutes new mission program called "Let's Raise our Sites"
- September 1957 Rock Creek Parish raises money to purchase site for Colesville Episcopal Mission
- November 1959 First Service is held
- 1960 D. Laurence Getman appointed Vicar of mission
- 1962 Church and Social Hall are built
- 1968 Transfiguration achieves parish status & Rector takes new parish
- 1969 Lloyd A. Clarke elected as second Rector
- 1970 Community/Education Building constructed
- 1971-1978 Parish in decline
- 1978 Rector resigns
- 1979 Richard G. P. Kukowski elected as third Rector
- 1980 Mission Statement adopted - parish growth resumes.
- 1981 - 1984 Inreach and Outreach Programs begun to serve parish and community
- 1985 Long Range Plan adopted
- 1988 Plans for expanded Worship, Social, Educational and Administrative areas begin
- 1989 Architect hired for expansion
- 1991 Ground breaking for expansion
- Easter, 1992 New addition is occupied
- 1995 Parish is subject of a study on how to develop diversity in a suburban congregation
- 1996 Vision statement on commitment to diversity is adopted at a parish weekend conference
- 1998 Parish helps found Action In Montgomery to better quality of life in area Cofounds with St. Stephen Lutheran a home for the elderly
- 1999 Receives grant to begin studying models of leadership in multi-cultural leadership. Celebrates 40 years of ministry in Silver Spring, Maryland
- 2003 Rector takes sabbatical and lives in Uganda, Nigeria and Jamaica, the home of the three largest non-American born groups in the parish
- 2004 Full time Youth Minister is added and a Sunday Evening service is begun
- 2005 Parish commits to Program size operation and institutes SWEEPS (Service, Worship, Evangelism, Education, Pastoral Care & Stewardship) organization
- 2006 The Reverend Carla Thompson called as Interim Rector after Father Richard G. P. Kukowski retired June 11th, after serving as rector for 27 years.
- 2008 The Reverend Margaret Ingalls, called to be the new Rector for Transfiguration
- 2009 Transfiguration Celebrates 50 Years of Counting our Blessings with a series of Golden Anniversary events to celebrate our 50 years.
