Frequently Asked Questions
Read the information below for answers to some of the most frequently asked questions about Christian Formation at Transfiguration.
How do I enroll my child in Sunday School?
The first time you come to Transfiguration you can immediately bring your child to Sunday School, and fill out a registration form. Sunday school is held during the early part of 10:15 a.m. services. Your child will join you in church for the remainder of the service after the lesson, which is usually based on the Scripture readings of the day. During the Sunday School time those in the church service hear the readings and sermon.
Do I need to join the church before my child can attend Sunday School?
All who attend worship at Transfiguration, whether as visitors or members, are welcome to bring their children to Christian Formation or Sunday School. There is no fee for registration.
Does the Christian Formation curriculum include testing?
The children show their level of understanding of the Scripture lessons by the way they express themselves in related arts and crafts activities, by their participation in group discussions, and by the way they answer a teacherís questions. There are no written tests.
Are there attendance requirements?
Classes are held year round, and the content of each lesson stands on its own, not dependent on the childís being present the week before or the week after. Participants are encouraged to attend frequently, as that is how they can gain the most from the experience, but are not required to be present any particular number of Sundays.
