Confirmation, Reception, Reaffirmation Program

Dear Parent(s) and Participants:

As part of a person’s Christian formation, he/she is expected, when ready and duly prepared, to make a mature public affirmation of one’s faith and commitment to the responsibilities of one’s Baptism by receiving a laying on of hands of the bishop.

Purpose of the Program:  To duly prepare those who have been baptized for confirmation,    those who are from churches in apostolic succession for reception, and those who want to reaffirm their commitment for reaffirmation.  Anyone of any age may participate in the program.  Those under age 12 must do so after an interview with the rector and with special permission given.

Design of the Program:  To impart a series of lessons on topics from the Salvation story to the Sacraments to How the Church works to our responsibilities therein.

Schedule:   Parent(s) and Participants will meet the first time on March 2 at 6:30 pm in the Community Building for a Potluck dinner.  Thereafter, participants will meet on Wednesdays at 5 pm in the Community Building for class.  See the Wednesday schedule in this booklet for weekly topics.

Confirmation May 14 at the Cathedral  10 am:      Families will gather at the Cathedral at 9:15 am with godparents and sponsors.  Sunday, May 15 the class will be asked to sit up front for a time of celebration.  Parents are asked to provide the fellowship that Sunday to celebrate this joyful sacrament.

We are excited to offer this intensive time of training in preparation for confirmation, reception, and reaffirmation.  Please let the rector know by mid-February if you or your child plans to participate.

Faithfully yours,
Mother Meg
